City cabbies are calling on lawmakers to increase road safety by ticketing drivers who don't clear the snow and ice off their roofs before hitting the road.

The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers says when it flies off a car, van or truck at a high speed, it can cause deadly accidents.

They are proposing a $1,000 fine for those who fail to dust off their roofs.

A bill to combat the issue was introduced in the State Senate back in 2009.

Similar laws exist in New Jersey and other states. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
