A Queens mother was arraigned Thursday on murder charges in connection with the the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
Ashley Diaz, 28, faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
Police say they found Kevasia Edwards unconscious inside the family's Arverne home late Monday night.
The medical examiner says the girl suffered abusive head trauma and had a number of bruises and scars on her body.
Four other children who lived in the home are now in the care of the Administration for Children's Services.
In a statement, ACS said: "As part of the investigation of this and other recent fatalities, we are closely reviewing ACS policies and procedures to improve practices across the child welfare system and make sure that we are doing all we can to keep children safe."
