The Department of Sanitation is calling for backup in its effort to clear the streets of snow and ice following the latest winter storm.

Pre-registered emergency snow laborers are being called in to help clean bus stops, crosswalks, fire hydrants, and steep streets around the city.

Pay starts at $12 an hour, and increases to $18 after the first 40 hours.

Those interested in registering to be an emergency snow laborer can do so at any Department of Sanitation garage.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S., and capable of heavy physical labor.
