A Department of Sanitation truck hit a tree on Staten Island and knocked it onto a house Wednesday.

The New York City Fire Department says that the accident happened shortly before noon on Clawson Avenue, near New Dorp Elementary School.

"There was always this branch hanging into the street, and they hit it, and the whole tree just uprooted the sidewalk and everything, and it fell on the house," said homeowner Veronica Krause.

"The truck started to move and hit the tree, and the tree came crashing to the ground," said Dan Jiola, a New Dorp resident. "I mean, the limbs were all over the street. The snow was everywhere."

No injuries were reported.

The homeowners told NY1 that they've complained to the city about the tree. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
