Upstate police say a city employee is dead and his co-worker is facing charges after a deadly workplace shooting.

The incident occurred in Kingston at around 6:45 a.m. at an office for the city's Department of Environmental Protection.

Police say the victim, 33-year-old Aron Thomas of Olivebridge worked at that office.

The alleged shooter, 53-year-old David Reese of Gilboa, is in custody. He is being charged with second-degree murder.

There is no word on what sparked the shooting.

DEP officials released a statement offering their condolences.
