Upstate police say a city employee is dead and his co-worker is facing charges after a deadly workplace shooting.
The incident occurred in Kingston at around 6:45 a.m. at an office for the city's Department of Environmental Protection.
Police say the victim, 33-year-old Aron Thomas of Olivebridge worked at that office.
The alleged shooter, 53-year-old David Reese of Gilboa, is in custody. He is being charged with second-degree murder.
There is no word on what sparked the shooting.
DEP officials released a statement offering their condolences.
"DEP is fully cooperating with local authorities in their ongoing investigation. Grief counselors will be made available to help DEP employees who have been affected by this tragedy,” reads the statement.
