Lions, dragons and drums marked Sunday the Lunar New Year festivities in Chinatown, where the 15th annual parade was held.

Asian music, food and culture was the theme of the day.

Spectators hit the streets to see costumed performers celebrate with traditional music and dancing.

"I actually tried to get my kids to here because they've never been to Chinatown before, and this is the right time, I think," said one person.

"I came out because I wanted to see how exciting it is to celebrate the Lunar New Year," said another.

"For him to see the heritage of being Chinese, how the new year is celebrated," said a third.

This is the Year of the Horse.

According to Asian astrology, people born in the Year of the Horse are energetic, bright, warm-hearted and intelligent.
