Broadway between 34th and 47th streets is shut down through Saturday thanks to endless activities like the Super Bowl toboggan run, where football fans can enjoy a 60-foot-high ride on what's normally one of the busiest stretches in the city. NY1's Michael Herzenberg filed the following report.

It could be a typical night in Times Square, but add about 1,000 characters because this is Super Bowl Boulevard.

No, it's not Sesame Street. It's like Times Square on steroids.

The Boys Choir of Harlem and the Rockettes kicked off the festivities Wednesday with the governor and the mayor.

Anyone can try to kick an extra point.

"Honestly, first extra point ever," said one person. "Didn't have high hopes, did not, but the crowd backed me up. They were cheering for me. How can I miss?"

You can't miss in the 13 blocks converted to interactive football-oriented activities, like taking a picture as a player for your favorite team.

"I'm proud of my team but I'm sad didn't make it to the Super Bowl," said one person.

This is the year for Seattle fans.

Q: What's it like to be a Seattle Seahawk?
Seahawks fan: It's great right now. It's never been better.

Denver fans got the same opportunity.

Super Bowl Boulevard is for any football fan. They can take pictures with the Vince Lombardy trophy or, as one fan put it, "Just walk around. Everything is nice. Just having fun."

The most fun, most say, is the toboggan run.

"It looked like a roller coaster," said one person.

"First one call me off guard, but I'll be ready for the second one," said another.

The wait was about 10 or 20 minutes in the cold.

"I'm feeling like I can use a hot chocolate," said one person.

"It's absolutely crazy, but it's so cool," said another. "They should have it here all the time."

From one of the eight lanes, sliding 60 yards downhill, I actually got air, and enjoyed the ride, twice.

The hours are noon to 10 p.m. through Saturday, so you have a few more days to enjoy it. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
