New York's Bravest are adding to their ranks.
A new class of probationary firefighters was sworn in Monday.
Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano told the recruits that their time in the academy would be the toughest 18 weeks of their life and reflected on his own time in the academy.
"Make no mistake about it. We were all nervous because you're embarking on a new career," Cassano said. "But my probie school was only six weeks. They're going to be here for 18 weeks, working hard, much harder than I was. There's so many more things that we do. But it was a very proud moment then, and for me to swear these young men and women in today, it's a very proud moment for me again."
The recruits will be trained fire department facilities on Randall's Island.
