Super Bowl XLVIII will kick off with the soaring soprano voice of hometown opera star Renee Fleming.
Fox and the National Football League announced Tuesday that Fleming will sing the national anthem at the big game.
Fleming has won four Grammys and spent years performing on New York stages from Lincoln Center to Carnegie Hall.
She's the first opera star to sing the anthem at the Super Bowl.
The game will take place on February 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., with the Denver Broncos facing the Seattle Seahawks.
