Crews will work today to remove a truck that crashed into a residential Bronx building Monday night, killing the driver.
Police say he was exiting the Major Deegan Expressway by 179th Street around 6:30 p.m. when he suddenly plowed through several vehicles and kept going, before crashing into a residential building on Cedar Avenue.
Investigators don't know yet what caused him to speed out of control.
"It was pretty scary. I was in the back room when I heard the big boom. The whole building was shaking when it first happened. At first it was a bomb, and then I came out to see it was a bad accident," said one driver whose vehicle was struck.
Police say four people who were in vehicles hit by the truck have non-life threatening injuries.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
