A Queens fundraiser is giving parents with visually impaired children hope that a cure is in sight.
The third annual Vision for the Future dinner was held at Terrace on the Park in Corona.
The dinner raises money for the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
The event brings together hundreds of local supermarket operators and vendors.
This year's fundraiser brought in more than $500,000.
"Clinical trials are ten times the cost of basic research. And so this foundation needs to raise significantly greater amounts of money as we move into clinical trials. Those trials are the only way that we'll ever be able to restore vision,” said James Minow, chief development officer of Foundation Fighting Blindness.
