Sources tell NY1 that a woman lost her leg after being hit by a cement truck Saturday morning in Manhattan.

It happened at 10 a.m. on the Upper East Side.

Police sources tell NY1 that a 63-year-old woman was crossing 2nd Avenue at 68th Street when she was hit by a cement truck making a turn.

Sources say the women's left leg was severed below the knee.

"It's kind of shocking to see a person laying down, screaming and asking for help and, you know, when ambulance and police came here, that was like five, 10 minutes later," said one person at the scene.

According to sources, it appears that the 52-year-old man driving the truck did not realize he hit the woman at first, but then stopped after witnesses waved him down.

He stayed at the scene. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
