A phone outage knocked out arrest processing systems at the NYPD.

The New York City Police Department says that a portion of the Verizon network went out Thursday morning, halting the internal administrative and arrest processing systems.

A spokesman says that the Department took reports on paper worksheets instead.

He says no data was lost, and the outage did not affect public safety operations.

The 911 call and dispatch systems remained fully functional.

The problem was fixed about four hours later.

One Police Plaza was the only location that did not lose access and connectivity to the data systems.
