Family and friends held a funeral Tuesday for a 16-year-old boy killed at a party.

Iquan Williams was leaving a house party in Brownsville on January 4 when he was shot in the head.

Police charged 17-year-old Jahiem Spruill with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Iquan's family members said that they tried to keep him from going to the party after his brother read on Facebook that someone was planning to bring a gun.

His parents read a poem in his honor.

"Our king will run court with his brother playing ball. Our king did it all. Our king was sent by the Lord. Our king, Iquan, will live through us forever. Love, mommy and daddy," the poem read.

Spruill's case is now before a grand jury.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
