Mourners gathered Monday at a memorial service for a Manhattan 9-year-old who died after he was hit by a car.

A taxi drove into Cooper Stock and his father as they crossed an Upper West Side street on Friday.

Cooper later died at St. Luke's Hospital.

His father suffered a leg injury.

A crowd filled the sidewalk outside the Riverside Memorial Chapel for the ceremony.

A statement from the family urged people to drive safely and give extra hugs to their children.

Family members said that they couldn't even feel angry at the cab driver, who they said must be suffering, too.

The taxi driver has been issued a summons for failing to stop for a pedestrian.
