A medical heavyweight joins the team angling to redevelop Long Island College Hospital.
New York University Langone Medical Center officials say that the medical titan has joined Fortis Property Group's bid to take over the troubled Brooklyn hospital from the State University of New York.
If approved, NYU Langone says it will develop 60,000 square feet of the hospital into multiple functions.
Fortis would re-develop the remainder of the facility into condominiums.
SUNY's Board of Trustees was set to vote on Fortis' plan in December, but tabled the matter at the 11th hour.
The board is now expected to revisit the plan Tuesday, with a vote possibly coming at that time.
SUNY Downstate has tried for months to shut down the hospital, which has been operating at a loss.
