Police have arrested and charged a woman in connection with the death of a 4-year-old child who was found unconscious Wednesday morning inside an apartment on West 48th Street.

Investigators say 27-year-old Kryzie King faces assault and reckless endangerment charges.

Officers found Myls Dobson, 4, at a building located at 235 West 48th Street.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sources say the 37-year-old woman said that the boy was alone in the bathroom of her Midtown apartment when she heard a "thump."

When she went into the bathroom, she found the child in the empty bathtub, according to sources.

Dobson's uncle, Josieh Cassar, who asked NY1 not to show his face, said that the woman is the girlfriend of the boy's father.

She had been taking care of Myls for less than two weeks.

Police say it appears the boy was abused, and his uncle agrees.

"He was beaten for a few days, burned with cigarette butts. That's what we heard," Cassar said. "It was really painful for us. My wife didn't sleep no time last night. It was really hard. He spent some time here back in 2-0-10, and we're the ones that took care of him when he was a child."

"Tragic, tragic death of that young boy. Horrific injuries sustained over a period of days. I had a briefing today as to some of the intimacies as to what that child suffered during his last couple of days of life," said Police Commissioner Bill Bratton.

Authorities say the boy had been living with her since his mother lost custody and his father was sent to jail in New Jersey.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The Administration for Children's Services says it's also investigating.
