As expected, embattled city Housing Authority chairman John Rhea has resigned his post.

Rhea told NY1 last week that he was planning to step down, especially after Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio said he would remove Rhea after taking office.

The former Wall Street financial advisor was appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2009 despite having no prior experience in public housing.

Rhea's tenure was marked by financial mismanagement and deteriorating conditions in public housing, including a backlog of more than 400,000 apartment repair requests.
