One city woman is making sure that man's best friend isn't left out in the cold this holiday season.
Dubbing herself "Santa Paws," Denise Wilens says even dogs deserve Christmas cheer.
She started her project as a way to bring dog toys, beds and even clothes to dogs in animal shelters across Manhattan.
"We are here to bring a little bit of joy for all of these animals that don't have homes," she said. "We have our pets at home that have 20, 30, 40 toys. You know, just by sparing one toy of our pets that probably doesn't even know they're missing it brings so much happiness to a dog here that has none."
Wilens began visiting shelters on Christmas Eve and says she plans to continue until every dog in need gets a gift.
She has collected about 500 items so far.
