For many New Yorkers, the day after Christmas means a trip to the mall to get those presents that weren't left under the tree Wednesday. NY1's Erin Clarke was at Queens Center mall catching up with shoppers and filed the following report.

The story's the same. Just like the day after Thanksgiving, shoppers are headed to the malls following Christmas for deep discounts.

"We went to Macy's," said one shopper. "They had the one-day sale, which was spectacular, and it was 70 percent off."

The folks NY1 spoke to said that the day after Christmas might just be, dare I say it, a better shopping day than Black Friday.

"Best deals you can ever find. Everything is like 50 to 75 percent off. You can't beat that," said one. "I love the after-holiday sales. I'm always out on the 26th. Love, love, love shopping on the 26th."

Not to mention, pockets are full now after Santa left a little cash for some.

"Every time Black Friday comes, I'm always broke, so I can't seem to get a Black Friday underneath my belt," said one shopper.

Others said that the biggest plus is that they can get the deals without all the Black Friday fuss.

"I actually always wait till the day after Christmas for myself to buy things," said one shopper. "It's much cheaper, and, I don't know, I just enjoy the experience, and it's quieter, too."

Contrary to what you might think, most people weren't at the mall returning a Christmas gift they didn't like.

"Me, I just lost a lot of weight and whatever I got didn't fit me, and I brought it back to get a smaller size," said one shopper.

"Something may be too big or may be too small," said another. "The children, they wear these weird sizes now."

So look out, Black Friday. The sun may be setting on your holiday as shoppers take to the stores in droves a month later. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
