Some Christmas gifts will come at least a day late after both UPS and FedEx were swamped with packages this holiday season.
Many gifts that were supposed to be delivered for Christmas will not actually arrive until today at the earliest.
Both companies are blaming overloaded systems, and in some cases bad weather, for the delays.
Neither company put a number on the amount of packages delayed, but noted it was only a small share of their holiday shipments.
The delays led to many disgruntled customers to complain to retailers.
Amazon responded by refunding shipping charges to the affected customers and e-mailing them gift cards.
