Santa Claus is coming to town and NORAD is right on top of his progress.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command Santa Tracker is up and running once again, with the U.S. and Canadian military both keeping tabs on St. Nick's travels as he makes his way from house to house around the globe.

This all started in 1955 by accident, when a local newspaper in Colorado Springs mistakenly published the number for the Continental Air Defense Command, NORAD's predecessor, as SANTA's hotline.

Officials decided to play along, and a new holiday tradition was born in North America.

To track Santa's travels, you can either call 1-877-HI-NORAD or go online to www.noradsanta.org.
