A 72-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car in Brooklyn, and police are now searching for the driver who took off.

First responders were called to Avenue D near 42nd Street in East Flatbush just before 8 p.m. Monday night.

When they arrived, they found the man unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"I feel bad for the victim. And the person should have at least stopped," said one person. "If the license is for whatever reason suspended or whatever, they should at least stop and explain themselves, not just leave the person laying in the street like that. That's very bad.

Police have no description of the vehicle, only that it was white.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
