Mayor Michael Bloomberg rolled up his sleeve Monday to give blood at a time when donations traditionally drop.
The mayor was joined by Alfred Kelly, the CEO of the Super Bowl Host Committee, as he donated.
It was all part of the Super Bowl-inspired campaign "Super Community Blood Drive."
Blood drives in New York and New Jersey have collected more than 250,000 pints of blood so far.
Everyone who donates blood for the campaign gets a chance to win tickets to February's Super Bowl XLVIII at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium.
The blood drive ends on January 17.
