If you get a robo-call in the next week or so, don't hang up, because you could get a nice tax break.
The state tax department will be calling about 620,000 homeowners before December 31, reminding them to register for Basic STAR.
The program is designed to give households earning less than $500,000 a year a property tax break.
The state set the end-of-the-year deadline as a way to filter out people claiming the exemption on property that isn't their primary residence.
So far, 2 million have registered for the program.
