A Colombian man who authorities say plotted to smuggle millions of dollars of heroin into New York has been extradited to the city.

Sergio Zuilanny Gordillo Joya, also known as "Andres," was arrested in Argentina back in April.

Prosecutors say he ran an international drug trafficking ring from Colombia that shipped tons of drugs around the world.

Last year, authorities seized 35 pounds of heroin that they believe was bound for New York.

They say it was hidden inside furniture on board a freight ship in Miami.

Prosecutors believe that shipment was orchestrated by "Andres" and another man, Luis Fernando Galleano Gasca.

He was also extradited and arraigned in the city last week.

Both men face kingpin trafficking charges that carry a possible life sentence.

Two other men have also been arrested in connection with the case.
