Saturday's snowy weather didn't scare off scores of people dressed as Santa for the annual holiday pub crawl known as SantaCon, and so far, it seems they managed to stay off the naughty list.
There were numerous complaints about rowdy behavior in recent years, so police stepped in and called for participants to behave and bars to keep things in check.
Participants NY1 spoke to said that despite a bad reputation, the event does a lot of good.
"Obviously, some people take it a little too far, but I think if you can handle yourself and not drink too much, it's actually for a good cause. The money goes to charity," said one participant. "And it's really fun to walk around the city and see people in Santa outfits. It's, I don't know, I think it's a lot of fun."
SantaCon organizers also brought in volunteers to help control the crowds.
As a precaution, there was a ban on alcohol on Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road trains and stations.
