There's a new type of cockroach in town, and this one likes the cold.

Making its first sighting outside Asia, the new species of roach has been spotted on the High Line.

Insect biologists from Rutgers University say that unlike its New York cousins, this species can survive the cold weather.

It was first identified last year by an exterminator working on the elevated park.

The biologists believe that the critter stowed away in soil of plants imported into the U.S. for the Chelsea park.

However, they say not to worry, as instead of reproducing, the roaches will probably spend most of the time fighting for space among the city's already ample roach population.
