The head of the city's police union is applauding the Mayor-elect's choice for the next police commissioner.
PBA President Pat Lynch calls the appointment of Bill Bratton a "wise and professional" choice.
He says Bratton knows how to fight terror as well as crime and will keep the city safe.
Lynch says Bratton also knows how to properly use stop-and-frisk.
"I think Commissioner Bratton understands that stop question and possibly frisk, is a tool that's used across the country in policing and we should use it constitutionally. That's exactly what this union and our members have been saying, allow us to use that tool properly; not based on a quota or a number,” Lynch said.
Lynch he looks forward to working closely with Bratton and expects there will be a partnership between the commissioner, the police and the community.
