Pope Francis has a new plan to crack down on sex abuse within the Catholic Church.

The Vatican announced the formation of a special commission to advise the pope on protecting children from sexually abusive priests and how to help past victims.

Catholic officials say the commission will lead new initiatives to more thoroughly screen new priests, and better train church personnel to prevent more cases of abuse.
