A missing Staten Island fox might be making her way home.

Staten Island Zoo staff are cautiously confident the red fox, known as Montana, is making her way back to the zoo.

The team came close to catching her on Wednesday in New Brighton, but she was able to dart off into an adjoining yard.

She was most recently spotted last night just two blocks away from the zoo.

The little critter apparently burrowed out of its enclosure a few days ago, and it might be on the loose in the surrounding neighborhood.

The fox is about seven months old, weighs about ten pounds, and is the size of a house cat.

Zoo officials say the fox is not likely a threat to people or small animals, but if you do see it, stay away and call the zoo at 718-442-3101. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
