Some high-profile guests visited a Queens food pantry Saturday for its weekly food distribution.

Former mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, along with several elected officials, helped serve 800 families at the River Fund food pantry in Richmond Hill.

"They're an amazing organization, the River Fund, and I think it's a shame that there's so much need for them to fill, but a real blessing that they're there to fill it," Weiner said.

"We're kind of the last effort for someone to go that's in need," said Swami Durga Das, executive director with the River Fund. "They've tried everything else, and they still don't have enough food to feed their children."

"To feed my kids, 'cause in my job, I don't make enough money, so it brings extra food to the home," said one person.

The River Fund was founded more than two decades ago.

The charity also has sites in Coney Island and the Rockaways to help Hurricane Sandy victims. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
