A homeless man is in custody after police say he pushed an elderly man off a subway platform Friday afternoon.

Investigators say 57-year-old Rudraiall Baldeo pushed 72 year-old Shou Quan Lin onto the northbound A train tracks at the 145th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue subway station shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Lin, who was with his wife, was helped up back onto the platform by fellow commuters before the next subway arrived.

Baldeo was charged Saturday with attempted murder and felony assault.

Lin remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Police are asking anyone who might have seen the incident it to contact them.
