A Queens man was shot and killed in front of a public housing complex in Brooklyn on Thursday morning.

Police say it happened in front of the Walt Whitman Houses in Fort Greene around 3 a.m.

They say 66-year-old Clifford Hubbard was shot three times in the chest.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hubbard's son says his father was there to bring money to a family friend to buy a turkey for
Thanksgiving, and that he may have died in a botched robbery.

"Basically, somebody must of known or thought he had some money on him and try to rob him. And after that they shot him. And it's tragic, you know. He was a good man trying to do a good deed,” said Morris Hubbard.

The investigation is ongoing. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
