A construction worker was killed Friday morning after falling from a scaffolding setup in Manhattan.
It happened just after 11 a.m. outside a building located at 19 University Place in Greenwich Village.
Officials say the worker, who was in his 40s, fell from the scaffolding and onto an adjacent building.
An investigation into the fall revealed that the worker didn't have the proper training and that the work site was unsafe.
According to investigators, the the man did not have the required certification to work on that scaffold.
Officials say he fell from an unprotected area that was missing guardrails and didn't have any kind of fall protection system in place, like a safety harness.
His identity was not immediately released.
The Department of Buildings issued several violations on the site.
