Lawyers for the judge who was removed from the stop-and-frisk case by the federal appeals court have filed an appeal of their own.

They're asking a three-judge panel to reconsider the order against Judge Shira Scheindlin and allow her to present her side in court.

Scheindlin was removed from the case last week after the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that she jeopardized the appearance of objectivity by making statements to the media.

In August, Scheindlin ruled that the New York City Police Department's use of stop-and-frisk was unconstitutional and ordered the appointment of an independent monitor to oversee changes to the policy.

That ruling has been stayed.
