A driver is facing criminally negligent homicide charges after police say he struck and killed a 9-year-old boy with his SUV.
Surveillance video from a nearby store shows a Ford Expedition moments before it hit young Lucian Merryweather near Dekalb Avenue and Clermont Avenue in Fort Greene.
Police say 59-year-old Anthony Byrd was at the wheel.
Investigators believe that the SUV collided with another car before hitting several parked cars, jumping a curb and hitting the family.
Merryweather's 5-year-old brother was also injured. Police say he's in stable condition.
Residents says it was a horrific accident.
"The kid was pinned against the wall under the car," said one witness. "I didn't even see the blood. I just seen the arm, and then, and that's when I turned my back."
"The scene was such a sad thing to see," said another. "You don't want to see children such a young age go under the car, under the hood."
Police say Byrd stayed on the scene and was arrested there.
