The "subway vigilante" is back in the news for being back behind bars after serving time for shooting four teenagers in the 1980s.

Bernhard Goetz was arrested Saturday after police say he tried to sell $30 worth of marijuana to an undercover officer in Union Square.

In a case that gripped the nation and sparked a debate on race and crime, Goetz was acquitted of murder charges in the 1984 shooting of the panhandling teens who were allegedly trying to mug him.

He was convicted of weapons charges, and was ordered years later to pay $43 million in a civil suit. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
