A new church is set to rise from where St. Nicholas Church stood before the September 11th attacks.

Renderings released this week show what the new Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church will look like.

It will have a large ribbed dome, similar to the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.

It's designed by Santiago Calatrava, who also designed the World Trade Center Transportation Hub.

The new church will be located on the south end of the National September 11th Memorial.

It will house a non-denominational bereavement center, and it is scheduled to open in 2016. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
