A 79-year-old Bronx woman is recuperating at home after being hit by a stray bullet Monday afternoon.
According to sources, the woman's name is Norberta Duvall.
Police say she was walking through a courtyard with her daughter near East 153rd Street and River Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. Monday when three shots rang out.
Duvall was hit under her ribs.
NY1 spoke to her daughter about those horrifying moments after her mother returned home from the hospital.
"Yes, she was the victim, my mother," her daughter said through an interpreter. "She was injured by the bullet on her left side. She's doing very well. God didn't allow a more serious injury. God didn't permit for her to die because the bullet did not puncture her internally. The injury was superficial, thank God."
Meanwhile, the New York City Police Department says it's looking for a suspect said to have fled from the scene in an SUV.
