More than 100 firefighters responded to a fire at Macy's Herald Square Friday night.

The store was evacuated Friday evening after a fire broke out in the basement at about 8:15 p.m. Friday.

Fire officials say it was out in less than an hour, thanks in part to the building's sprinkler system.

A stretch of sidewalk on Seventh Avenue between 34th and 35th Streets had to be closed off on the west side of the store while crew battled the flames.
