Kids from across the city went the distance Saturday as the New York Road Runners held their first Youth Jamboree of the school year at the armory in Washington Heights.
Around 1,500 students ages 4 to 15 participated in a variety of free athletic events at the New Balance Track and Field Center.
Kids from all five boroughs sprinted, jumped and shotputted their way towards ribbons and t-shirts, but mainly it was about having a good time.
"The jamboree is a really fun way for kids to run and enjoy themselves," said Edwin Morocho, a P.S. 51 student.
"We came from P.S. 321 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and the kids are so excited and many of them got ribbons and their just having so much fun. It's really all about fun, these events, and we're so happy to be here again," said Nicoletta Merangis, a coach at P.S. 321.
