Mayor Michael Bloomberg is pushing a new plan that could add more parks to Park Avenue.
The proposal would create more green space along the avenue by eliminating one lane in each direction from 46th to 57th streets, allowing the central median to be widened.
It's part of a larger rezoning plan for East Midtown.
The proposal also calls for Pershing Square near Grand Central Terminal to be turned into a pedestrian plaza like Times Square.
The city is also considering closing off traffic on Vanderbilt Avenue to the west of Grand Central and widening the sidewalks.
