The principal has warned kids at P.S. 87 to leave their colorful rubber band bracelets and the kits they make them with at home, as the rainbow looms are banned at the Upper West Side elementary school.

Anyone caught will have to hand them over to their teachers.

A letter went home to parents announcing the ban.

The principal says they're disrupting classes and causing fights on the playground, but some students NY1 spoke to felt differently.

"I think I should be able to wear them because most kids don't use it as a distraction," said one student. "But I don't know. I don't really have a say in this."

Under the school's discipline code, it is at the discretion of the principal to prohibit items they feel may be disruptive to the classroom or to a child’s learning.
