With a new mayor taking office next year, Gracie Mansion will likely become a home again.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg has never lived in the Federal style mansion on the Upper East Side, choosing instead to stay in his own townhouse.

The mayor did, however, finance a major renovation of the space which has been used for special events.

Soon after taking office, Bloomberg spent $7 million fixing up the porches, stairs and bathrooms.

The kitchen was redone last year, at a cost of $1.25 million.

Both major mayoral candidates have indicated they would move in if elected. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
