Long distance swimmer Diana Nyad completed her 48 hour swim for charity Thursday.
The 64-year-old is raising funds for Hurricane Sandy Victims.
For every hour she was in the pool, she had someone swimming beside her.
Nyad came out of the pool at 8:48 a.m., after raising a little more than $103,000.
"My main point here was regardless of whether you're from New York, we the citizens of the world can't forget these people. It was a year ago that this storm ravaged their lives. We just, we can't forget them. We've got to remember what their suffering and help them in some way," Nyad said.
Last month, Nyad became the first woman to swim the 110 miles from Cuba to Key West without a shark cage.
Money raised from her Herald Square swim will be distributed through the charity "Americares."
