Police are searching for a man who they say tried to assault a police officer with a baseball bat in the Bronx.

According to police, the suspect jumped the turnstile at the Burke Ave subway station in Olinville around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

NY1 is told that when the man was approached, he swung a wooden bat at the officer, then ran.

The bat was recovered and the officer was not injured.

Police say the suspect is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.
