The search continues for a teen with autism who disappeared from his school last week.

Posters with the picture of 14-year-old Avonte Oquendo can be seen all over the Long Island City neighborhood where he was last seen.

Workers from a nearby construction site told NY1 that officials asked them to check the site to make sure the boy isn't hiding there.

Surveillance video shows Oquendo leaving Center Boulevard School some time Friday afternoon.

The Department of Education says it's working closely with the police.

His family says he cannot communicate verbally well enough to ask for assistance.

His brother is asking anyone who may have see him to offer their help.

"Please, stop him, hold him there, call police," his brother said. "Please, anybody. I'm just looking for my brother, man."

Avonte is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighing around 125 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a gray striped shirt, black jeans and black sneakers.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit
