One of NY1's own is being honored for a long run of workplace excellence.
Bernadine Han, the station's vice president of news, was recognized by the industry group "Women in Cable Telecommunications."
She was awarded the prestigious 2013 "Women to Watch" honor at a luncheon in Midtown Monday.
"It says a lot about the future of our cable industry and the future of women in cable television, and I was just very, very excited and humbled and honored to be recognized," Han said.
The Bronx-born Han joined the station at its inception in 1992 as a writer and now oversees all of Time Warner Cable's news operations around the country.
Among other things, the Barnard College graduate is credited with pushing to open NY1's Washington bureau, as well as establishing the station's presence on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
