A Staten Island man killed in Afghanistan will receive one of the Army's highest honors.
Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis will be posthumously decorated with the silver star during a ceremony later this month.
Ollis died in August during a raid of his compound by suicide bombers.
The 24-year-old stepped between an insurgent and a Polish soldier, shielding him from an explosive blast.
Officials say he saved that soldier's life.
Ollis was in his second tour in Afghanistan.
He joined the Army in 2006.
